Joanna Karpowicz, known for creating captivating and emotionally charged paintings, began her artistic journey at the Krakow School of Fine Arts and later continued her studies at the Faculty of Painting at the Jan Matejko Academy of Fine Arts. Since 2012, she has been working on a painting series featuring Anubis, the deity who guides souls, which serves as her way of exploring themes of life and death. This series reveals the magic hidden in ordinary moments, evoking feelings of longing and deep reflection. Anubis appears in personal spaces and the artist’s yearnings, adding extraordinary depth and intimacy to her works. Her works, infused with nostalgia and full of symbols, effortlessly weave everyday life with an introspective dimension. Karpowicz possesses a remarkable ability to connect with viewers on an emotional level, creating works that linger in the memory and hearts long after the first glance. She is the author of numerous prestigious solo and group exhibitions, both in Poland and abroad.
