“Asio flammeus” is a painting by Wojciech Brewka that depicts an extraordinary owl with eyes of blue and amber. This vibrant composition, full of intense colors and energetic brushstrokes, showcases the wisdom and mystery of the owl while also highlighting its wild nature.
“The painting is from the ‘Hope’ exhibition and features the short-eared owl, one of the rarest owl species in our country. The series of works presented during the exhibition in Łódź referenced the idea of endangered species in Poland, of which there are currently over 147. The technique used in the painting is also significant. The bird fades into the background, symbolizing its disappearance from our world and remaining only a hazy memory” says Brewka.
