Urszula Tekieli is an artist who masterfully blends two aesthetics – the elegance of European Art Deco and the spirituality of traditional Japan. She lives and works in Tenczynek near Krakow, and her paintings are inspired by Noh theatre, ukiyo-e woodblock prints, and the Rinpa school tradition. Her works often feature solitary female figures – static, serene, frequently accompanied by a greyhound. The compositions are minimalist, with geometric backgrounds and decorative details, yet always maintain a calm, balanced rhythm. The artist avoids literalness, leaving space for the viewer to interpret the mood, relationships, and symbols personally.
