Behind the Scenes of “Diplodocus”

The feature-length animated film “Smok Diplodok” is directed by Wojtek Wawszczyk, a renowned Polish director, screenwriter, and animator, responsible for both the screenplay and the direction of this surreal adventure. He drew inspiration from the iconic comics of Tadeusz Baranowski, such as “Antresolka Profesorka Nerwosolka” and “Podróż smokiem Diplodokiem”. These comics, which sold millions of copies, have become classics of Polish pop culture. The film’s visual side is handled by Tomasz Leśniak, serving as the art director, who brought Baranowski’s characters and worlds to life with his unique drawing style. The film’s production is managed by prestigious studios: the Polish Human Film, specializing in high-quality character animation and special effects, and the Czech PFX, responsible for world-class post-production and visual effects. By collaborating with artist teams from both studios, Wawszczyk created a work full of nostalgia and modernity, carrying a message about the power of imagination and belief in oneself.

Diplodocus
