Borys Fiodorowicz is one of the most controversial artists in Poland. As one of the few, he creates icons that describe the problems and challenges of the modern world.
Combining the sacred with the profane that surrounds us, Borys Fiodorowicz demonstrates a full sensitivity to the reality in which we live. He tackles difficult and uncomfortable topics, to which we as individuals often feel powerless. By commenting on the situation of refugees, passing trends, or the issue of endangered ecosystems, he compels his audience to think independently. Through his icons, we question the old order and reorganize our values. We learn to hear our own voice and reject imposed conventions.
In his icons, Borys Fiodorowicz reaches for symbols traditionally associated with religion, yet his message is directed to each of us – a better reality is still within our reach; we must exclude indifference and open our eyes to the other being.
Borys Fiodorowicz’s icons gain popularity with each passing year. However, the author himself remains faithful to his beliefs – he does not reveal his face and somewhat remains in the shadow of his own creation. Art is meant to speak, not the persona of its creator.
BIO
A painter who combines the sacred with the profane in his works, often delving into difficult and uncomfortable subjects. Finalist in the second edition of the Nationwide Painting Competition named after Leon Wyczółkowski and the VI Piotrowski Art Biennale.
